Lush Arndale Beauty School Event

Hiya Guys!

A couple of weeks ago I received an invitation to the Lush Arndale Beauty School Event for Bloggers, I applied a while back thinking I wouldn't hear anything but thought I would give it a try. I was chuffed when I received the invite as I'm sure you can tell if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram that I am a massive Lush fan and have been for years!

When we arrived at the Lush Arndale store we was advised by the lovely Colin that there were three different groups where we would be doing three different activities throughout the evening.

Henna Hair Dye Demo and Knot Wrap Tutorials

Our group started on the hair care section where there was a Henna Hair Dye demonstration going on, Henna is a natural alternative to the usual hair dye. To find out more information click here.

We also had a live tutorial on how to use the Lush Knot Wraps, we kindly received one of the Knot Wraps in our goodie bag and we was shown lots of different ways to use this from
styling your hair with Victory Rolls and adding a Knot Wrap rose to making a bag to store your Lush products in - which makes an amazing gift idea! I was so glad to be shown the Knot Wrap rose style with the Victory Curls as I am going to a wedding just before Christmas and was looking for a vintage hair style so I will be 100% be using this style.

Emotional Brilliance Live Tutorial

Once we had finished creating Knot Wraps styles and watching the Henna demo we went to the Emotional Brilliance section of the store where we were being shown a live tutorial using all Lush make up.

The look in which we were being shown was a flawless skin look where the make up artist concentrated on a flawless base and then added a copper colour to the eyes using the Eye Jewels. I have never seen anything like these before, they are essentially cream solid eyeshadows and come in the most gorgeous colours. Another product which caught my eye was the Feeling Younger Skin Tint - the MUA used this as a highlighter on the model and it was SO beautiful, as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it! I purchased it once the event was over and can't wait to start using it. It's a liquid based product and can be used all over your face under your foundation for a dewy look or on top of your make up to create a gorgeous highlight!

Product Making

The final activity of the evening was product making and I was VERY excited about this. We all huddled into the Lush Arndale Green House with the lovely Alex who was talking us through the products which we would be making. He was very informative and I learnt a lot of information about how Lush source their ingredients such as their Fair Trade Cocoa Butter, the stories were really touching.

The first product which we were making was Butterbear Bath Bomb which I was really happy about as I love this product, only a week before the event I had bought two of these as I remember how lovely they were last year. They aren't anything super fancy and exciting but they're a soothing and relaxing Bath Bomb.

We did everything from adding the Fair Trade Cocoa Butter to mixing the product together to put into the little Butterbear moulds.

The next product we made was Cupcake Face Mask, I didn't expect to be making anything other than bath products so this was something very exciting. Alex talked us through everything from how the products benefit your skin to how to apply and store the product. Due to it being a very hands on session I didn't manage to get any pictures of this as we were all involved from the start, even ripping up the mint to add to the mask but I did manage to get a picture of these yummy Cupcake inspired Vegan cupcakes made by one of the staff members at Lush, Colin!

I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Lush Arndale and am very thankful to all the lovely staff members there who made it a night I won't forget! There are lots more pictures and videos over on my Instagram which you can check out!

As always, I hope you enjoyed the read and speak soon!

Primark 'PS Love' Beauty Range Review

Hiya Guys!

A couple of months ago I went to see Sleeping With Sirens in Manchester (BTW they were incredible live) so I obviously had to do some shopping whilst I was there. After visiting a few shops I headed over to Primark, I mean you can't go to Manchester without visiting the three storey Primark which has a Costa and a Beauty Bar inside of it...

When we arrived in store the first section we saw was the beauty and cosmetics section and without sounding annoyingly snotty the thought of buying make up from Primark really didn’t sit well with me UNTIL that day. You need to understand how much shock I was in when I was swatching some of the products and looking at the prices from the PS Love Beauty Range, so I thought it was only right to do a quick blog review to share my thoughts and feelings of some of the items I picked up.
PS ... Super Matte Liquid Lipstick - £2

Okay so I’m sure a lot of you are aware how popular liquid lipsticks have become recently and my personal favourites are the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks (my two favourite shades being Vintage and Sandstorm). So when I saw that Primark had their own version I thought I would pick one up to see how it compared and wow. When they say ‘Super Matte’ Liquid Lipstick they are seriously SUPER matte, I bought this light nudey pink which is the shade '01'. I couldn’t believe how pigmented it was when I wore it for the first time. You honestly need to apply it once and the colour is extremely pigmented and staying power is brilliant, one thing I would recommend is popping some lip balm on your lips before applying as after a while it can look and feel a bit drying. Other than that I would highly recommend these liquid lipsticks and for £2 you honestly cannot go wrong.
PS ... Black Gel Eyeliner Pot – £2

I absolutely love this product. From the actual gel eyeliner itself to the packaging and little brush that comes with it, I love everything about it. So it’s a gel eyeliner which comes in a pot and when you pull the handle it reveals a small synthetic eyeliner brush, usually I don’t use brushes which come with products as I find they are low quality but I have actually used this for lining my waterline and tightlining and it works really well. Like the Liquid Lipstick the colour is really pigmented and when I’ve wore it in my waterline on a night out or at a gig it has stayed all night for me without smudging under my eyes. Again for the price I couldn’t recommend this enough, I know that the next time I go to Primark I will be picking a few more up.
PS... Lip Liner Pencil - £1

I picked up two Lip Liner Pencils from the range in a brown and mauvey pink shade and again the pigment and quality of these products is unreal. I feel like I am repeating what I have said about the Liquid Lipsticks here but I am honestly so happy with these products and for £1 you honestly cannot go wrong.  I also think the packaging of these pencils looks like sleek and I love how the colour of the product is on the lid as well as the base of the pencil so you know which one you’re picking up. They’d be ideal paired with the Liquid Lipsticks, I did this with the ... shade and it also made the Liquid Lipstick less drying as they are a nice creamy consistency but still firm enough to line your lips perfectly. I know the quality of the swatches in this picture isn't the best but my camera really wasn't working with me, there are better swatches on my Instagram.
PS... Make-Up Brush Cleanser - £2
I bought this product from the recommendation of my sister, she used this and couldn’t rave enough about it so when I was in store I picked up two bottles. To wash my brushes I have always used Johnson’s Baby Shampoo and found that after trying other products this always gave me the best results. I used the Real Techniques Deep Cleansing Gel when it was first released and wasn’t really impressed with it. I wanted a product which I could spot clean my brushes with rather than having to do the daunting and long task of the deep cleansing, so when my sister told me about this I knew it would be perfect. I use this cleanser for smaller brushes such as eyeshadow brushes as I find it works a lot better than using it for a foundation brush for example where the product is quite heavy. I spray the product directly on to my brush and rub it in small circular motions on a towel and it clears the products instantly and the brush dries within minutes. This would be perfect for make up artists who are on the go and have more than one client in a day. I am doing make up for others in the next couple of weeks and know that this product will be perfect in my kit.

Balmi – Lip Balm – £2

There is not much to say on this product as it’s only lip balm but I wanted to share it because I LOVE them. I had never seen them before and thought they looked like an EOS sort of style and were really cute so picked up the Mint and Strawberry flavours, I know they are not exclusive to Primark but they are cheaper than other places such as Superdrug. I love the packaging and the actual product itself is lovely, I find them a lot more moisturising than EOS’s. I always pick one up when I’m in store now just to keep either on my desk, in my handbag or in my make up bag because they’re so cheap and amazing!

PS... Love To Glow Face Mask - £3

I am a big fan of face masks and usually only use those from The Body Shop but decided to pick this from the recommendation of my friend who had bought it previously and loved it. It's a mask with small beads in it which I've never used before. As you would with any face mask just apply it and allow it to dry, then when you come to washing it off use a little water and work it into your skin as the tiny beads create a good exfoliator. It left my skin feeling smooth and refreshed!

PS... Lipstick 80p

I don't really have much to say on this lipstick, I bought this colour as I hardly EVER wear pink/coral shades so I thought for 80p I might as well pick up a colour I might end up hating. It's not actually bad with regards to pigment as you can see from my picture and goes on to the lips nice and creamy but the lasting power isn't very cracky. But I suppose for 80p you can't ask for much - it would be great for those beginning with make up.

PS... Contour Kit - £4

From the look of this and how professional it looked for Primark I had extremely high expectations for this Contour Kit but I wasn't that impressed. For someone who Is just starting with make up it would be a good product to buy as the product is buildable but if you are a looking for a high quality and well pigmented Contour Kit I wouldn't recommend this. The 'highlight' powder is really powdery, when I swatched it there was so much excess powder, the other two colours don't have this issue. I think this would work well for those with a more pale complexion. Overall I wouldn't recommend nor re-purchase this.

PS... Face Glitter - £2.50

I picked this up because I am heading to Leeds Festival in August and the main thing I wanted to do make up wise was throw a load of glitter on my face and when I saw this it was the perfect product to buy! You get three different coloured glitters in each set along with a Face Glitter Glue, I haven't tried this product out yet but I will be sure to post a little review and picture on my Instagram and Twitter once I use this. I just wanted to add this to my post seen as though festival season is coming up and you can't have enough glitter!

I hope you all enjoyed this post and please let me know what you think.

Spring Lush Haul

Hiya Guys!

I'm back again with another Lush haul, this time it's a Spring Lush haul so it's a mixture of products from a few different collections. There are products from the Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and Easter Collections, now although I'm aware these are over there are still some products left in store and online as they are limited edition until stock sells out. But I also just thought I'd still upload this post as they may bring some of the products back to the Lush Kitchen and I thought it'd be useful to have the information on a certain product that you may be interested in.

I won't be leaving links to the products which were limited edition as I know that most of them aren't available online but like I say if you pop into store you maybe lucky and be able to pick some up. So I'm going to crack on!

Bunch Of Carrots - Reusable Bubble Bar

This adorable set of three reusable Bubble Bars are from the Easter collection this year. I love how Lush create different and clever ideas for the reusable Bubble Bars and it's no different with these. I'm probably going to use them individually and hold them under the running tap by the 'leaves'. Although I've recently started using a tea strainer for my regular Bubble Bars. I just snap a piece off whichever bar I'm using a pop it into the tea strainer and hold that under the water and it makes the bubbles so much more fluffier and you don't risk burning your fingers trying to crumble it under the running water!

This product has a really fresh and fruity scent which is perfect for Spring. The scent probably comes from two of the main ingredients 'Sicilian Lemon Oil' and 'Bergamont Oil' which are both 'Uplifting and Cleansing'.

Dragons Egg - Bath Bomb

Dragons Egg Bath Bomb is in the permanent collection at Lush and is one of the products that I always pick up when I'm in store as it's one of my all time favourites. The scent is just incredible, it honestly smells like sherbet that you could easily eat. Now although it doesn't look that exciting on the outside compared to other bombs such as The Experimenter for example you need to trust me on this one and pick one up.

Although it has the two of the same main ingredients as Bunch of Carrots ('Sicilian Lemon Oil' and 'Bergamont Oil') it's a lot different with regards to the scent. It smells so much sweeter and if you are into all things sweet scented this Bath Bomb is for you. It also has a lovely orangey/gold inside so when you pop it in the bath and the white outer layer fizzes away the amazing colour inside starts to come through and the little pieces of multi-coloured confetti start to show.

Floating Island - Bath Oil

I never really cared for trying Bath Oils before but when I found this in store I thought I'd give it a try and I'm so glad I did! They aren't the most exciting products ever, they don't create an exciting, colourful and fun bath but they really do make your skin feel incredible.

All you need to do is pop the whole thing in your bath and just let it melt away and do it's magic. It's a really creamy product hence the reason for leaving your skin feeling so lovely. The main ingredients are 'Sandalwood Oil', 'Fair Trade Vanilla Pod Seeds' and 'Organic Shea Butter' which explains the rich creamy scent. I would recommend this product if you suffer from dry and sensitive skin.

Fluffy Egg - Bath Bomb

Ok now this product from the Easter collection is EVERYTHING. If you can get to a Lush store and this is still available you need to get one (or 10). If you follow me on Instagram @amberjainee you will have seen my recent video and pictures of this Bath Bomb and you'll know how much I'm in love.

It's a Bath Bomb that smells like Snow Fairy...... What more could anyone want ?? And if you're unfortunate enough to not know what Snow Fairy smells like I feel sorry for you, when it's Christmas you need to go to Lush and smell it and I promise you won't be disappointed, it's my favourite Lush scent ever. As soon as you pop it in the bath it fizzes away very quickly and leaves your bath an amazing bright pink colour with the Snow Fairy scent lingering. I don't really have much to say on this other than if you can buy it, do!

Golden Egg - Bath Bomb Melt

I'm a little bit in two minds about this product don't get me wrong it looks cute and smells really good but the glitter is SOO annoying, one touch of this product and you will have glitter on you for a good 3 weeks....

But I think the scent tops that and I'll just have to deal with the glitter. In my opinion Golden Egg smells a lot like Honey I Washed The Kids and I love the Bath Bomb Melt's - it's such a lovely combination. The outer layers melts away which leaves your water silky smooth revealing with Bath Bomb to fizz away. If you don't mind the glitter I'd recommend this. The Lush website describes this product as 'Toffee-scented, molten gold and packed full of Fair Trade Colombian cocoa butter'.

Humpty Dumpty - Bath Bomb

This massive Bath Bomb is from the Easter range this year, which I'm sure you can tell from the name. The reason it's so big is because there is actually a Bath Bomb within the Bath Bomb - if you crack this product in half it reveals a little Bath Bomb egg so although you are paying a little extra than usual you can use this as three separate bombs which I intend on doing.

The scent to me gives off a honey/caramel scent with hints of citrus. Which sound like an odd combination but actually works really well together. The Lush website advises that two of the main ingredients are 'Sicilian Lemon Oil' and 'Bergamont Oil' which are both 'Uplifting and Cleansing'.

Intergalactic - Bath Bomb

This is another product which I always pick up when I'm in store and has become one of my favourites. Purely because it's absolutely stunning in the water, it turns the water the deepest blue and leaves glitter floating in the water. When you first drop this Bath Bomb into the water it's honestly like something from Outer Space, I have pictures on my Instagram for those interested.

It has a very refreshing peppermint scent to it and the main ingredients are 'Peppermint Oil' which is 'Cooling and Invigorating', 'Grapefruit Oil' which is 'Uplifting and Refreshing' and 'Cedarwood Oil' which is 'Toning and Balancing'.

Karma - Bubble Bar

I've seen this product in store quite a few times now and never bothered picking it up, to be honest it's the scent that I'm not that much of a fan of but this time I thought I'd give it a try.

It smells a lot like the Holly Golightly Bubble Bar from the Christmas Range which I didn't rave over but for those who like warm and super relaxing scents I would suggest giving this one a smell in store. The one thing I do really enjoy about this Bubble Bar is the colour it turns your water, it goes an amazingly deep purple with gold glitter throughout. But it's not overly glittery, you can touch this product without having glitter on you for 10 years!

Ladybird - Bubble Bar

This little lady is from the Mother's Day collection and smells SO good. It has a really fresh minty scent which isn't something I'd usually say would be in the Mother's Day collection but it makes a nice change from the traditional super sweet scents.

Why wouldn't you want to buy this product? Just look how cute it is. I don't want to ever use it... This product along side Intergalactic Bath Bomb would work so well.

Lover Lamp - Bath Bomb

This product is from the Valentine's Day collection which I know is over a month ago so you're probably thinking why are you even blogging about this now..... And I know I'm SO bad with doing these posts in time with the collections but I really am going to try and be more of top of blogging, but I just thought I'd add them anyway. You never know the Kitchen might release these soon or you could probably find them on eBay.

These Bath Bombs are really lovely simplistic products but what I love is that the little red hearts in them are little Bath Melts which once all the bomb has fizzed away stay floating and melting in your water to leave your skin nice and soft. The scent of this product isn't too overwhelming but does have a hint of chocolate which I love!

Mmmelting Marshmallow Moment - Bath Oil

Oh My LORDDD. If you buy anything from this haul it HAS to be one of these. I cannot even put into words how good these smell and I can't believe that I have only recently just discovered these. They smell exactly like the Bubblegum Lip Scrub with a hint of Snow Fairy - it's the sweetest scent and I am totally obsessed with it.

Same as the Floating Island Bath Oil you just need to pop the whole thing in your bath and let it melt away. The main ingredients include 'Marshmallow Powder' which 'Soothes and Softens', 'Extra Virgin Coconut Oil' which is 'Softening and Moisturising' and 'Almond Oil' which provides hydration for the skin and hair. Just from the ingredients I think you can see the benefit's of this product, so again if you suffer from dry skin or Eczema this product would be brilliant for you.

Unicorn Horn - Bubble Bar

The Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar is another product from the Valentine's Day Collection and is a product that I can't wait to come out each year! I only bought one last year and totally regretted the decision when I used it up so quickly so this year I purchased 4 for myself.

Firstly it just looks incredible, I mean it's called a Unicorn Horn and is literally a rainbow horn, who wouldn't want to own this product? If there was one product I wish that Lush would make permanent it's this one. It has a strong lavender scent therefore is perfect for just before bed as it really helps you unwind. Just run it under the water or pop it in your tea strainer however you like to use them and it will create you some amazing bubbles to relax in.

Flowering Tea - Reusable Bubble Bar

These cute tea bag Bubble Bars were a part of the Mother's Day collection this year. I'm not actually a huge fan of this scent but I just wanted to pick them up as they were limited edition and I love the idea of how they look like an actual tea bag, so handy just to hold the string and run it under the tap.

This product has an extremely strong floral scent which personally I find a little overpowering, I have yet to use this product yet so my opinion could totally change but as soon as I use it I'll be sure to do a review on my IG. From looking at other people's reviews and videos I love how there is actual petals inside the Bubble Bar. It does make an extra pretty bath.

Rose Bombshell - Bath Bomb

This Bath Bomb is from the Mother's Day collection also and is one that I am very much a fan of. I'm sure you can tell by the name of the product what the scent is, some of the ingredients within this product are Rose Oil, Rose Absolute and Rose Petals.

Once the Bath Bomb has completed fizzed away it leaves you with little yellow rose petals floating in bath which is a nice finishing touch after a lovely unwinding bath.

Which Came First?- Bath Bomb

Just like the Humpty Dumpty Bath Bomb this is one of the larger Bath Bombs which came out in the Easter collection which once cracked open has a little Bath Bomb inside so you can get three baths out of this. But not just any little Bath Bomb it's a little chick!

As I mentioned in the above post about Humpty Dumpty although they are a little more pricey I think they're so worth the money and they're also so fun for Easter, these would be great to give as gifts if you didn't want to give actual chocolate Easter eggs. The three main ingredients in this product are 'Grapefruit Oil' which is 'Uplifting and Refreshing', 'Fair Trade Vanilla Absolute' which is a 'Sweet and Comforting Scent' and 'Lemon Oil' which is 'Uplifting and Refreshing'.

Ultraviolet - Bubble Bar

First off for the price of this Bubble Bar I think it's huge. It seems a lot bigger than any other Bubble Bar I've gotten before and they all seemed to be that size. This Bubble Bar is from the Mother's Day collection therefore is limited edition but is still available online.

The scent is of this Bubble Bar is very unique compared to most Lush products I have smelt before but I love it. I've seen online that some people have got 18-23 baths out of this product which to be honest doesn't surprise me because it's so big and from what I've seen depending on which part of the bar you use leaves your water amazing colours with even better bubbles. This scent is really difficult for me to describe but Lush advises it has 'Violet' and 'Jasmine Absolute'.

I know this is a SUPER long blog post to say it's my first one in months but I hope you enjoyed it, please keep an eye out on my Instagram @amberjainee where I post videos and pictures and mini reviews each time I use a Lush product.

Please let me know what you think and follow me on my social medias (Twitter and IG @amberjainee) to keep up to date on what I'll be posting next.
